Dear brothers and sisters,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
The incarnation of God’s Eternal, Divine, Heavenly love was given to the world under the protection of Mary and Joseph of Nazareth. This is especially memorable during this 150th Jubilee Year of our beloved St. Joseph Parish.
How providential that Pope Francis has pronounced this to be a year, (December 8, 2020 – 2021) dedicated to Saint Joseph. The aim of his Apostolic Letter, Patris Corde (a father’s heart), is to “increase our love for this great saint, to encourage us to implore his intercession and to imitate his virtues and his zeal. “ Pope Francis was motivated by the quiet, courageous and tender dedication of front line workers dealing with the COVID pandemic. They reminded him of St. Joseph’s quiet, courageous and tender care for the Son of God.
We find ourselves observing our parish Jubilee Year, preparing for Christmas and beginning a year dedicated to our patron, St. Joseph. We are also dealing with the effects of a pandemic in our own quiet, courageous and tender ways.
My Christmas prayer for each one of you is to find the kind of faith that allowed St. Joseph, at the direction of angels, to care for the Savior of the world with a father’s heart. May you do whatever the voice of heaven inspires you to do to receive our Lord Jesus and love him with all our heart.
Your pastor and brother in Christ,
Monsignor Gerald L. Reinersman
